Café de Colombia

Coffee is the second most consumed beverage in the world, after water.

It is a 300-year history full of constant learning, hard work and passion to make the best mild coffee in the world today.

To produce one pound of roasted Café de Colombia coffee, it is necessary to select approximately 1,900 cherries or coffee berries at the optimum stage of ripeness.

To appreciate a cup of Colombian coffee, it is important to understand the work and efforts of many people who ensure the quality of the final product for consumers around the world.

Colombia has become a world reference in terms of coffee, thanks to its obsession with creating a system that guarantees the quality of its product, from the seed of the tree, associated with the work of Cenicafé, to the cup of 100% Colombian coffee that reaches millions of consumers around the world.

The process begins with research on varieties and cultivation methods conducted by scientists at the Cenicafé Research Center, probably the most advanced of its kind in the world. The country·s 548,581 coffee-producing families receive information from Cenicafé and advice on how to ensure the quality of their crops through the National Federation of Coffee Growers· extension service.

The 100% Arabica coffee produced in Colombia requires specific climatic conditions for its production. Although it is a typical tropical product, its cultivation requires special conditions in terms of soil, temperature, rainfall and altitude above sea level.

Although these are the most common conditions, it is possible to produce excellent coffee at slightly higher altitudes or with different amounts or frequencies of rainfall. Thanks to the diversity of our country·s terrain and climate, Colombian coffee is grown in 23 of the country·s 32 departments.

The most discerning consumers are aware of the importance of coffee·s origin and know that it is much more than just a beverage. The quality of the coffee consumed is determined by the place of production and the human factor that selects and processes it.

Aware of the importance for consumers to be able to identify a coffee of quality and origin, roasters and commercial brands all over the world use the Colombian Coffee logo as a seal of approval, guaranteeing that the product the consumer is buying is 100% Colombian coffee, free from blending with other origins, and containing the best mild coffee in the world.
